CBRE Supplier Shield Risk Management Program

In an effort to strengthen CBRE’s risk management program and ensure that CBRE is in compliance with federally mandated laws and regulations, CBRE has implemented the CBRE Global Supplier Risk Management Programs as part of its risk management policies.

Although CBRE Group level is not able to address every issue raised with each supplier individually, they have asked Achilles to summarize the main objections typically received from suppliers. These are detailed below with corresponding responses.

CBRE has partnered with Achilles to manage the onboarding and enrollment of its current and potential suppliers, vendors and service providers, which includes communicating the requirements set forth on direct correspondence to each supplier. CBRE has communicated that all suppliers are required to complete Supplier Shield Risk Management Program in accordance to the obligations under the CBRE Supplier Code of Conduct

While we recognize some vendor partners may be engaged in one or more of the CBRE or Achilles programs, CBRE identifies each of our vendors for each participation that correlates to each site location(s) within the individual programs. Participation in Achilles is not a blanket coverage enrollment, therefore, vendor partners are required to complete each program separately as they pertain to their business relationship with each site/location and/or client.

There are a limited number of exceptional cases where a supplier is not required to participate. If you have been informed not to enroll, you will be required to supply relevant evidence to Achilles to support your exclusion from the process. This must include an explicit written exemption with the contact information of the individual providing the exemption. Failing this information, you will be required to complete the enrollment process.

CBRE has partnered with Achilles to manage the compliance and risk assessment of the suppliers, vendors, and service providers they work with or will work with. The Risk Assessment Program in which you are participating will provide accreditation and validation, supported Achilles, which is then shared with CBRE, enabling you to demonstrate your compliance and credentials to qualify for current and any future work.

We understand the small fee may appear to be an odd barrier; however, this is applied for the services provided. The fee covers the costs of data validation, support team, and data maintenance. We believe this will represent a cost saving for you that delivers important efficiencies within your business which allows you to present your supplier due diligence to CBRE while providing a 3rd party verification certification recognized by leading companies as the highest standard of supplier accreditation.

CBRE suppliers are required to engage in several steps of the onboarding process. Each participation is designed to manage various aspects of the business relationship, i.e., credit/risk screening, bank verification, purchase order/ invoicing, risk management. Such assessments may include, without limitation, third-party partners who are experts in the management of the information required. Suppliers’ compliance with the CBRE Supplier Code of Conduct will also fully cooperate with CBRE in such 3rd party assessments which are no longer accepted via outdated manual processes which are labor and time consumptive.

CBRE has partnered with Achilles to implement a supplier qualification system across CBRE’s global supply base. CBRE has tasked Achilles with contacting its suppliers on their behalf; gathering critical data to support the supply chain management activities; and validation and maintenance of that data. CBRE expects its vendor and supplier to work with Achilles in this matter.

If you are no longer working with CBRE and/or are not looking to work with CBRE in the future, your account can be escalated for review and removal. Please note, should you choose to work with CBRE in the future, enrollment will be required.

Enrollment requirements are based on a need to provide compliance information, i.e., insurance, Health & Safety, and tax status verification, which is a standard requirement to conduct regular business activities. Enrollment is not determined by the business value received nor the type of service/product provided but rather a standard means to properly, legally and sustainably manage the business partnership requirements. Based on overall market trends, the Achilles cost model is deemed to be fair in comparison to its competitors. Should you decide to end your business with CBRE, please advise Achilles so that the account can be managed accordingly.

For one-off suppliers, please refer to your CBRE contact who can determine if enrollment will prevent any forthcoming business and/or approvals of purchase orders directly tied to your full onboarding requirements.

CBRE Supplier Risk Management Programs are a top-tier, mandatory supplier risk-management solution designed to elevate qualified suppliers and ensure ongoing eligibility for CBRE business opportunities.

To remain eligible for current and future CBRE engagements, immediate enrollment or re-enrollment is required.
